THE UPINHF 2018 INTERNATIONAL FORUM IS A RESOUNDING SUCCESS!
The Soiree & Welcome Reception took off with a colorful and vibrant start—it was truly a BLAST!
The afternoon featured song and dance numbers of Jubilarians amongst 100 attendees. The food was great, just like a fiesta. There was a little bit of karaoke while others crowded towards the photobooth for beautiful mementos of candid, wacky, romantic, and sizzling photographs. All learned new line dance steps and some ballroom dancing, too. Everyone was excited to know more about each other, and was delighted to see each one especially those who just turned up after 30 years or more. Almost all participants got a door prize of either a polo shirt, t-shirt, tote bag, or Broadway show CDs. The best costume award for the Rocking 60’s and 70’s theme went to two smashingly dressed gals. After singing the final song, “That’s What Friends Are For” that was just exactly how everyone felt toward each other.
The UPINHF Breakfast Seminar started promptly at 7:30 a.m. Continental breakfast was served with Filipino pastries (“hopia” assortment), but the main course was the panel of speakers!
All the speakers were incredibly knowledgeable, passionate to share their knowledge, interactive, animated, obviously committed to excellence, and delivered powerfully relevant presentations. All eyes and ears were glued to the talks. Not one of the diverse audiences seemed bored or caught chatting with a neighbor. Everyone immersed themselves with take-home messages, profoundly useful information, pleased to the core in each and every minute spent in the conference room.
The International Nurse Award Ceremony had never been so marvelously executed. With heaps of joyful expressions and laughter, the three Deans of the University of the Philippines Manila College of Nursing (UPCN) and all the guests shared in the momentous awarding of the 2018 International Nurse Award to Dr. Marlon Garzo Saria. Having his mother and close friends by his side, it was a very personal and inspiring moment for everyone.
The UPINHF Gala Dinner Dance became a showcase of grace, jubilee, and style. The Grand Ballroom’s enormous dance floor, dual side-wall drop-down screens, elegant decorations, chandelier lighting, and intricately folded napkins made it incredibly obvious that this is a special group of guests. Refreshments and flavorful entrees were in abundance from the cocktail hour through dinner. After solemnly acknowledging the presence of many dignitaries who graced the occasion, the party exploded to start with alumni marching into the hall in a parade. The dance floor is then filled to capacity. Others overflowed to dance on the stage. Still many swarmed to the photobooth for precious keepsakes.
The highlight of the gala program is UPCN-BSN Class of 1968’s exceptional donation of $50,000.00 to the UP College of Nursing Foundation, Inc. The UPCN Dean Sheila Bonito graciously accepted the $50,000.00 BSN Class of 1968 Endownment Fund. Along with two former UPCN Deans, Dr. Josefina A. Tuazon and Dr. Lourdes Marie S Tejero, Dr. Bonito, in turn presented a plaque of appreciation to the very generous and remarkable BSN Class of 1968, the 2018 Golden Jubilarians represented by Dr. Dula Faraon-Pacquiao (BSN Class 1968 Coordinator).
